Colorado State Director

 

The National Redistricting Action Fund, an affiliate of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, seeks a Colorado State Director. The Colorado State Director will execute the statewide plan to implement All On The Line’s goals to raise awareness about the harmful impact gerrymandering has on policymaking, to encourage participation in activities that defend democratic ideals, and to increase grassroots engagement in every step of the redistricting process. The Colorado State Director will assist in managing in-state political relationships with key stakeholders and serve as the public face of the organization (and its affiliates) to promote coordination and collaboration with Colorado state partners. The State Director will also provide direction, guidance and support on training  and tactics utilized in pursuit of achieving fair maps.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute the All On The Line and affiliates' Colorado campaign plan

  • Work closely with external partners and existing coalitions to implement grassroots engagement and advocacy tactics across the state, including outside of the Denver Metro Area 

  • Communicate campaign goals to various stakeholders and elected officials

  • Effectively manage partner relationships, experts, and campaign volunteers

  • Build increased capacity and plan to achieve maximum impact via grassroots advocacy, education and mobilization efforts throughout the state

  • Effectively navigate national organizational processes and structures

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience (ideally 3-5 years) having worked in Colorado at a statewide non-profit, electoral or advocacy campaign, and/or having Colorado legislative experience

  • Deep understanding of the socio-cultural and political frameworks in Colorado; strong political acumen 

  • Previous experience building and maintaining collaborative, coalition-based relationships across Colorado 

  • Strong relationships with other organizations and state policymakers working on democracy issues across Colorado 

  • Demonstrated experience working in and building relationships in diverse communities in Colorado, especially communities of color including tribal communities 

  • Ability to think creatively and solve problems quickly

  • Responsive, responsible communicator especially in rapidly evolving scenarios 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • A good sense of humor and a strong commitment to making the world a better place

  • Fluency in Spanish not required but highly valued 

  • Other duties as needed

Salary will be commensurate with experience. NRAF offers a generous benefits package, including health insurance, vacation, sick leave, and holiday schedules. The position is a full-time, exempt position based in Colorado (any location therein provided there is reliable internet/cellular service).
