All On The Line Statement on Botched Georgia Primary
In response to the blatant voter suppression taking place in today’s primary elections in Georgia, All On The Line State Director Theron Johnson released the following statement:
“What we are witnessing today in the Georgia Primary is unconscionable. These problems were preventable if not for the reckless endangerment of democracy by Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. Instead of proactive and responsive leadership, Raffensperger is trying to hand off blame for his own malfeasance to others like county leadership. This is a dereliction of duty, and he should be ashamed of himself. We deserve better.
“Voter suppression is a reality for far too many Georgians. We’re too familiar with obstacles to voting — today is no different. Voters, old and young, are waiting in extremely long lines, through heat and rain, only to have to deal with malfunctioning machines and broken systems. Voting is a sacred right and should not be made this difficult for anyone, anywhere. This cannot happen again in November — too much is at stake this fall.”
