AOTL Condemns Georgia House of Representatives Passing Massive Anti-Voting Rights Bill

SB 202 is an Egregious Assault on Voting Rights

Today, the Georgia House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 202, an omnibus anti-voting rights bill that aims to restrict Georgians’ access to the ballot box. The bill includes a range of provisions that are detrimental to the absentee and early voting processes, local election boards, adds restrictive ID requirements, among other flagrantly suppressive actions.

“SB 202 is one of the most egregious assaults on voting rights in the country. Despite the opposition of a majority of Georgians, our gerrymandered state legislature continues to wage a full scale attack on voting rights. The motivations for these measures are clear -- voter suppression. Instead of trying to broaden their support with a changing Georgia, these politicians are doing everything in their power to limit who can cast a ballot. Every senator who cares more about a functioning democracy than their own ambition should reject this bill,” said Theron Johnson, All On The Line Georgia State Director.
