Atlanta, GA -- Today, Theron Johnson, Georgia State Director of All On The Line, released the following statement in response to a newly-released congressional map proposal from the Georgia House and Senate Democratic Caucuses.
“Democrats in the General Assembly have put forth a map that reflects the increasing diversity of today's Georgia — a Georgia that has emerged as a true battleground state,” said Johnson. “This is the map Georgians have been asking their leaders to create. Voters deserve a map that takes into account the 2020 Census data on the state's shifting demographics, gives Georgians the opportunity to elect candidates of their choice, and preserves and empowers the Atlanta Metro Area's diverse communities. This map accomplishes all of this and will return power back to the voter in upcoming elections.
"All On The Line commends the leaders who have worked tirelessly to engage with the public and bring this proposal to fruition. This map proposal, and all others, deserve to be voted on by the legislature and nothing less than a full slate of transparent public hearings that give Georgians from across the state the opportunity to participate.”
