Programmer/Systems Administrator

 

The National Democratic Redistricting Committee is seeking a Programmer/Systems Administrator to assist our team with mapping and analysis for the upcoming redistricting process. The Programmer/Systems Administrator will serve a vital role in supporting the technical infrastructure used for drawing and analyzing congressional and legislative maps.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Setup, configure, and administer AWS virtual machines used for mapping and analysis and the related network.

  • Administer AWS Postgres instance including loading of census and other data.

  • Maintain and enhance Python code base for loading and analyzing data including extracting and combining data from various heterogeneous data sources.

  • Support cross discipline team in use of AWS\database platform.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with AWS services including S3, Workspaces, and RDS Experience administering Postgres.

  • Experience in scripting language including R, Python, etc.

  • Experience administering Linux based web servers and applications.

  • Experience in writing complex SQL queries across large data sets.

  • Demonstrated strength in data modeling, ETL development, and Data warehousing.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Salary will be commensurate with experience. NRAF offers a generous benefits package, including health insurance, vacation, sick leave, and holiday schedules. The position is a full time, exempt position based in Washington, D.C once standard in-person working resumes.
