All On The Line Applauds Colorado Governor and General Assembly For Ending Prison Gerrymandering

Today, Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed into law HB 1010 which ends prison gerrymandering and allows the state to accurately reflect the residence of incarcerated individuals for the purpose of redistricting. Olivia Mendoza, Colorado State Director for All On The Line (AOTL), released the following statement in support of the bill:

“Even during this difficult time for the state and country, the end of prison gerrymandering in Colorado is another tremendous moment in our fight for equal representation. I commend Governor Polis for signing HB 1010 into law and applaud the legislators and activists who ensured this proposal made its way to the governor’s desk. With today’s bill signing, and the passage of Amendments Y and Z in 2018, Colorado is better positioned to achieve a fair redistricting process in 2021. Now we must all work together to ensure that these reforms are fully implemented and we live up to their promise of a political system that accurately reflects the people of this state.”
