AOTL Calls for Transparent and Accessible Ohio Redistricting Process
Washington, D.C. – Today, John Bisognano, President of All On The Line (AOTL), issued the following statement in response to the Ohio Citizens Redistricting Commission beginning the process to redraw the state legislative maps:
“The Ohio Citizens Redistricting Commission has a responsibility to conduct a transparent, accessible process that includes public hearings and to draw fair legislative maps that accurately reflect the will of all Ohioans. That’s exactly what an overwhelming majority of Ohioans supported when they enacted redistricting reforms in 2015. However, the last redistricting process failed as a result of Republican Commissioners abusing these reforms for their own political gain at the expense of the very voters they are supposed to represent. Now, Republican Commissioners have a choice to either work with their Democratic colleagues to deliver fair maps or to continue down the destructive path of gerrymandering. It is our hope that they choose the former.”
