AOTL Calls for Transparent and Accessible North Carolina Redistricting Process

Washington, D.C. – Today, John Bisognano, President of All On The Line (AOTL), issued the following statement in response to the North Carolina House and Senate Committee on Redistricting holding public hearings ahead of the process to redraw the state’s congressional and state legislative map beginning in October:

“It is the responsibility of the North Carolina legislature to conduct a transparent and accessible redistricting process yielding maps that fairly represent the voters of the Tar Heel state. North Carolina is an evenly divided state when it comes to political support, with populous, diverse communities, and it is critical that all maps reflect that reality. The most recent redistricting process was a failure, but North Carolina achieved fair maps when voters prevailed over the politicians in court. Once again, anything less than fair maps is unacceptable for the people of North Carolina.”
