All On The Line Statement On The Selection Of CO’s
Congressional Redistricting Commissioners
Independent Commission Must Now Begin Work on Redrawing Congressional Maps
Today, the Judicial Selection Panel named the final six members of Colorado’s Independent Congressional Redistricting Commission. The new additions join six previously-selected members of the commission and will be responsible for drawing new congressional districts under the process laid out in Amendment Y, which passed with overwhelming support from Colorado’s voters in 2018.
“Now that the commissioner selection process is complete, it’s time to begin the work of drawing new congressional districts for Colorado. Amendment Y codified opportunities for public input into the constitution, starting with the 20-day public comment period that is initiated once the commission convenes later this month. Commission staff must ensure that any opportunities for public input are accessible to all Coloradans,” said All On The Line Colorado State Director Marco Dorado.
“The maps that are drawn by the commission this year will be in place for the next decade. The Colorado Independent Congressional Redistricting Commission must ensure the redistricting process is as transparent as possible and achieves maps that represent all Coloradans fairly,” Dorado continued.
